The Kliq was formed in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1994 by Razor Ramon, Diesel, Shawn Michaels and The 1-2-3 Kid. In January 1995, Hunter Hearst Helmsley became the next member of The Kliq.
In April 1996, Ramon and Diesel signed contracts with WCW, the WWF's top competitor, with whom the company was embroiled in a bitter rivalry. Their last contracted match for the WWF took place on May 19, 1996 at Madison Square Garden. At the time, Helmsley and Diesel were wrestling as heels, while Michaels and Ramon were fan favorites. At the end of the night, Michaels wrestled Diesel in a steel cage match. Immediately after the match, Ramon entered the ring and hugged Michaels. However, Helmsley then entered the ring and hugged Ramon, followed by Diesel. The four wrestlers then group hugged for several seconds before they turned to face the crowd with their arms raised together.
On April 2, 2011, The Kliq, consisting of Diesel, 1-2-3 Kid, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, made a special appearance as Shawn Michaels was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. In 2014, at the conclusion of Razor Ramon's Hall of Fame induction, the members of The Kliq joined him onstage and reunited for the first time since the MSG incident. They reunited again in 2015 on an episode of Raw, and then again at Diesel's Hall Of Fame induction.
