At WrestleMania 33 in 2017, Gronkowski appeared in the front row to support his friend Mojo Rawley in the fourth annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Later in the match, Jinder Mahal would taunt Gronkowski, eventually throwing a fan's drink onto him. Infuriated, Gronkowski entered the ring and shoulder tackled Mahal, ultimately aiding Rawley to win the battle royal.
On the March 10, 2020 episode of WWE Backstage, it was announced that Gronkowski had signed a contract with WWE. On March 18, it was announced Gronk would be the host of WrestleMania 36. At the event, he pinned friend Mojo Rawley to win the WWE 24/7 Championship. Gronkowski would eventually lose it to R-Truth in his own home on the June 1, 2020 Raw, ending his reign at 57 days, at that time the longest in the belt's history. The following day, Gronkowski was released from his contract.
