Dupri made his first WWE appearance in 2006, teaming up with Jon Moxley to take on Big Show. His second appearance was in 2008 in a dark match for ECW, teaming with Gene Snitsky in a losing effort against Cryme Tyme. He also appeared in 2011, during a segment between CM Punk and Kevin Nash in the role of a security guard.
Knight, under the name Slate Randall, defeated Yoshi Tatsu in a dark match at NXT's October 2013 television tapings. Following that win, he only competed as a jobber on NXT, losing to names such as Mason Ryan, Baron Corbin and Mojo Rawley. His final match was on May 2, 2014 at an NXT live event. On August 1, 2014, he was released from his WWE contract.
Randall returned on the NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day pre-show, where it was revealed his new name would be LA Knight. Later on in the night, Knight was seen in William Regal’s office signing his contract, thus making him an official member of the NXT roster. On the March 3 episode of NXT, Knight made his first official appearance in NXT since returning, explaining his intentions and motives. He would then cost Bronson Reed a match against Cameron Grimes, establishing himself as a heel in the process. Knight made his in-ring debut on the March 17 episode of NXT, defeating August Grey. On the March 31 episode of NXT, Knight would win a battle royal by last eliminating Dexter Lumis to advance to a gauntlet eliminator at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver for an NXT North American Championship match. At the event, Knight managed to eliminate Dexter Lumis, but was the third man eliminated by Bronson Reed.
On the May 25 episode of NXT, Knight confronted Cameron Grimes during the "Millionaire Face-Off" between Grimes and WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, the latter of whom Knight defended and allied with. He would defeat Cameron Grimes for the re-introduced Million Dollar Championship in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, his first title in WWE. On the following NXT, Knight would have a championship celebration and coronation ceremony for his title win, hosted by Ted DiBiase. He would later turn on DiBiase, attacking him during the ceremony, before being driven off by Grimes. At NXT TakeOver: 36, he lost the title to Cameron Grimes. On the November 23 episode of NXT 2.0, a double turn happened as Knight turned face and Grayson Waller turned heel. At WarGames, Knight teamed with Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, and Tommaso Ciampa as Team Black & Gold, where they lost to Team 2.0 (Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Tony D'Angelo) in a WarGames match.
Knight made a main roster appearance on the January 24, 2022 episode of Raw, where he participated in a backstage segment with The Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode). On the January 27 episode of Main Event, Knight defeated Cedric Alexander. In mid-March, Knight began feuding with Gunther when the latter took offense at Knight getting an NXT Championship match by calling out Dolph Ziggler. The next week, Knight confronted Gunther after his match with Duke Hudson and challenged him to a match at NXT Stand and Deliver, which he lost.
On April 15, in a dark match before SmackDown, Knight made an appearance by announcing his new stable, named "Knight Model Management", and managing his first client, Mace. On the May 20 episode of SmackDown, he made his televised debut on the brand under the ring name Max Dupri, revealing his stable Maximum Male Models. He would announce Mace and Mansoor, under the tweaked names "ma.çé" and "mån.sôör", as his Maximum Male Models. He would then be joined later by his storyline sister, Maxxine Dupri, formerly known as Sofia Cromwell from NXT. Dupri would seemingly end his relationship with Maximum Male Models on the September 30, 2022 episode of SmackDown, thus turning face. The following week, he beat down ma.çé and mån.sôör and claimed Max Dupri was not who he was, and that he was LA Knight, therefore reverting to his LA Knight persona.
After a brief feud with Ricochet, Knight became involved in a feud with Bray Wyatt, which culminated in a Pitch Black match at the Royal Rumble, in which he lost at the event. On the March 31 episode of SmackDown, Knight competed in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but was eliminated by Bronson Reed. Knight defeated Montez Ford to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match on the June 2 episode of SmackDown. Knight would lose the Money in the Bank ladder match at the namesake event to Damian Priest. Knight participated in the United States Championship invitational tournament but lost at the semifinal stage. The next week, he defeated Ashante "Thee" Adonis and was confirmed to be an entrant in the SummerSlam battle royal in August, which he would go on to win after last eliminating Sheamus. On the August 7 episode of Raw, Knight confronted The Miz before hitting him with the BFT, turning face in the process. At Payback, he defeated The Miz with John Cena as the surprise special guest referee. On the September 29 episode of SmackDown, Knight saved Cena from The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa), and it was revealed that Knight would be Cena's tag partner against them at Fastlane. At the event, Knight and Cena would win after Knight landed a BFT on Uso. Knight would return to NXT for one night only on the October 10 episode to be the special guest referee for the NXT Championship match between Ilja Dragunov and NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. Knight would then enter into a feud with WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns, with a title match being announced for Crown Jewel, where Knight lost to Reigns after interference from The Bloodline. At SmackDown New Year's Revolution on January 5, 2024, Knight faced Randy Orton and AJ Styles in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender to face Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Royal Rumble. The match ended in a no contest after The Bloodline took out all three competitors; SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then announced that Reigns would defend his title in a fatal-four way match against Styles, Orton and Knight at Royal Rumble, which Knight was unsuccessful in after Reigns retained.
Knight then took part in the men's Elimination Chamber match at the titular event on February 24, but was eliminated by Drew McIntyre after interference from AJ Styles. This would eventually lead to Knight challenging Styles to a match at WrestleMania XL, which Styles accepted. Knight would defeat Styles at the event. The following SmackDown, Knight participated in the Undisputed WWE Championship eliminator tournament, defeating Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar in the semifinals. Knight was defeated by Styles on the April 19 episode of SmackDown in the finals. In May, Knight entered the King of the Ring tournament, defeating Santos Escobar in the first round, but losing to Tama Tonga in the quarterfinals. After this, Knight began a feud with WWE United States Champion Logan Paul. On the June 30 episode of SmackDown, Knight defeated Paul and Santos Escobar in a triple threat to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. At the titular event on July 6, Knight lost the Money in the Bank ladder match after Drew McIntyre grabbed the Money in the Bank briefcase. At SummerSlam, Knight defeated Paul to win the United States Championship, his first official championship in WWE. On the August 23 episode of SmackDown, Knight made his first successful defense of the United States Championship against Santos Escobar despite being ambushed by Escobar's allies of Legado del Fantasma Angel and Berto before the match started. On the following episode of SmackDown taking place in Berlin, Germany, Knight issued an open challenge, which was answered by Ludwig Kaiser, who Knight subsequently defeated to retain the title. On the September 20 episode of SmackDown, Knight made another successful title defense against Andrade. On the October 11 episode of SmackDown, Knight made another successful title defense against Carmelo Hayes.
